Back Engobe for Industrial Applications
Back engobe, also known as tile-back engobe, designed to protect rollers in ceramic firing kilns. Available for immediate supply in big bags.
Description

At PILATO, we market back engobe, also known as tile-back engobe, for the industrial market in Spain. Through a company-wide, integrated quality management system, we ensure immediate product availability and an operational approach focused on meeting our customers’ delivery schedules and technical requirements, while integrating seamlessly into their supply chains.

Back engobe, also known as rib engobe, is obtained through a homogeneous blend of raw materials and serves to protect the rollers in firing kilns. Applied to the underside of the piece, it prevents the body from sticking to the roller and avoids the material drag that soils the kiln and marks the product. Its different formulations allow it to be matched to the type of body and to the thermal cycle of each plant.

We supply the product in big bags, supported by agile logistics to facilitate its integration into processes already validated by our customers.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Back Engobe

What is back or rib engobe for?

In its purpose. Face engobe prepares a light, uniform base for glazing and affects the final appearance. Back engobe is not about appearance but about behaviour in the kiln: it must withstand contact with the roller without melting or sticking.

Yes. Back engobe allows different formulations depending on the type of body, the firing temperature and the characteristics of the kiln. Tell us the conditions of your process and we will advise on the most suitable composition.
