It is also used as a catalyst support in petrochemical processes and water treatment applications.

What is the difference between calcined alumina and white corundum?
Both products are aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) and share the same CAS number, but not the same form. Calcined alumina is produced by calcination and is used as a raw material in ceramic and refractory formulations. White corundum is fused and crystallised alumina, and its hardness makes it suitable for abrasive and surface treatment applications. The choice depends on whether you need to add alumina to a composition or require abrasive capability.
