What role does fluorine play in an enamel or a glass?

It acts as an opacifier. As the melt cools, fluorine compounds promote the formation of dispersed crystals that scatter light, producing a white or opalescent finish without the need for other opacifiers.

It is a fluorinated compound and must be handled in accordance with its safety data sheet, with particular attention to dust control, ventilation and personal protection during dosing operations. We provide the safety documentation together with the supply.
