Sodium Fluorosilicate

Sodium Fluorosilicate for Industrial Applications

Sodium fluorosilicate (Na₂SiF₆) for industrial applications, available for immediate supply in big bags and bulk.

Description
At PILATO, we market sodium fluorosilicate (Na₂SiF₆) for the industrial market, with most of our sales concentrated in Spain. Through our company-wide, integrated quality management system, we ensure immediate product availability and an operational approach focused on meeting delivery schedules and technical requirements, while integrating seamlessly into our customers’ supply chains.

Sodium fluorosilicate is used in the glass industry, where it serves as a component in technical formulations defined by the customer and where fluorine acts as an opacifying agent through crystal formation during cooling. It also finds application in ceramic and vitreous enamels for that same opacifying capacity, and in the chemical industry as a source of fluorine in processes that require it.

We supply sodium fluorosilicate in big bags and bulk, supported by agile logistics to facilitate its integration into validated industrial processes.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Sodium Fluorosilicate

What role does fluorine play in an enamel or a glass?

It acts as an opacifier. As the melt cools, fluorine compounds promote the formation of dispersed crystals that scatter light, producing a white or opalescent finish without the need for other opacifiers.

It is a fluorinated compound and must be handled in accordance with its safety data sheet, with particular attention to dust control, ventilation and personal protection during dosing operations. We provide the safety documentation together with the supply.

Yes. It appears interchangeably as sodium fluorosilicate, sodium silicofluoride or sodium hexafluorosilicate. All three names refer to the same compound, Na₂SiF₆, and share the same CAS number.
